What to Eat with Gout?

Gout is a joint disease accompanied by severe pain. Sometimes the pain is so intense that even the touch of the foot on the bedsheet can be intolerable. The affected joint feels very swollen, red, and hot, with the most significant symptom being intense pain, especially in the big toe. Gout occurs when uric acid accumulates, forming crystals in the joints. Certain conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney diseases can contribute to the development of gout. To alleviate the condition, a diet low in purines is recommended. It is crucial to reach a healthy weight and prefer the consumption of quality, healthy food.

  • Red meats, lamb, and pork
  • Offal (liver, kidneys, etc.)
  • Seafood (lobsters, mussels, shrimp, anchovies, sardines, etc.)

Gout can be managed through medications that alleviate pain during attacks and reduce uric acid buildup. Other ways to cope with gout include exercising and avoiding excessive sugary drinks.
