Consuming chocolate often can be harmful to our health, but in moderate amounts, especially dark chocolate, it provides many substances that can be beneficial for the heart and brain.

While the sugar content in chocolate can be harmful in large quantities, the cocoa it is made from provides a range of beneficial antioxidants. These include various flavonoids that act against oxidative stress in cells, slowing down the aging process.

Caffeine in chocolate works to prevent and alleviate inflammations, as well as aiding in serious brain conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases. This flavonoid, along with others, improves brain function and contributes to better memory and faster reactions.

Along with ice cream, chocolate is sought for relaxation, and scientific studies conclude that its consumption leads to reduced levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
